(copied from the old thread) I was just wondering what festivals anyone on here is doing this summer, and whether anyone who is going to a festival would be up for teaming. I have to confess that I’m not sure what exactly the teaming would involve. I guess at the very least we would be handing out flyers to people watching Placebo. Maybe a couple of posters to stick up advertising the album. I’m currently waiting to hear whether there are any official plans… but in the meantime any ideas would be welcomed So really I’m looking for a) anyone who is attending a festival (anywhere in the world!) this summer and would be happy to team for LAR whilst there b) anyone who would be willing to team specifically at Sonisphere c) any ideas of what we can actually do So far i have Chelikans to do Lollapalooza in Chicago and Robyn for all the major UK fesitvals *hugs both* Anyone else sign up here or pm me poetress x

Hi Sam
(nice work propagating the Street Team section)
Count me in for Saturday night at Godiva Fest (3rd July - Coventry)
Ash are headlining - it's a tenuous link but they've supported Placebo.

c) any ideas of what we can actually do talking to people. if it's festivals placebo are playing at, mostly it's easy to spot the bo fans and then you can just jump in front of them, compliment them on their outfit, ask them if they remind steve hewitt and start talking about LAR. better even if you have flyers with you to make it stick in their memory. people are INSANE about freebies, not matter how useless and cheap to produce they are. last year i gave placebo buttons to punks, rammstein fans, korn fans, randomers that all assured me they don't care a wet fart about placebo but they were thrilled about free buttons. O.o also if you ask people where they are from - if you're lucky they're from a city of the tourplan and you can quite randomly throw a face and go all - omg, LAR are playing there and i can't go because it's so far and i have to work ARGH. i never thought mailing lists would work - not in germany. but bo-teaming proved me wrong. we got SO MANY people signed up for placebo AND expatriate (who were completely unknown to most people) with so little effort, it's insane. of course mailing list boards are really unhandy if you're at a festival and have to carry it around all day (so is a giant bag of buttons without a handle, just saying) talking however is very effective if you're really into the band, as people can actually see this. i often got things back like 'you really like them, don't you?' and 'i think their new song sucks, but you're so certain they'll rock, i'll see the set then - and i'll personally hunt you if they suck' (well, german friendliness, but i'm still alive ) . most important thing though in my opinion: don't team alone. that's no fun and will seem like a task more than having fun.

Thanks for the suggestions I'm sure we can manage to speak to some Placebo fans (after all they'll all be watching the band's set) and hand out some leaflets to them. And at Sonisphere we can point them in LAR's direction for the Sunday You're so right about the mailing list. I got quite a few people signed up at the Scala gig last month just by talking to people in the queue. And, randomly, I got loads signed up at an Amanda Palmer gig i went to in May - I just got there half an hour early and went along the queue and said look, if you sign up to the mailing list you can win free tickets to their gig - which proves what you said about freebies too cos so many people went for it poetress x

i just got back from T in the Park....for the most part most people i spoke to seemed interested in what i had to say about LAR. i managed to hand out a few hundred flyers to people....then came up with a semi genius idea to throw them up in the air to rain down on people after Muse, not my best idea but i seemed to get a semi large area covered in a matter of seconds, but i think people were far too drunk by that time to care.....a roll of duct tape and flyers managed to get into all the toilets in the arena...and we may of attacked a tent or two.......or more
