I was aimlessly wandering the internet and stumbled across this interview. It's from a site called Just Hewitt (whichseems to be defunct cos it was last updated 9 years ago!) but it's originally from the Raft. Raft Informer with Steve HewittWhere are you? Working in london. Who, if anyone, did you wake up next to this morning? No one. What was the first album you ever bought and why? Status quo 12 gold bars - I liked the cover. What was the last album you ever bought and why? Foo Fighters - I like (My Hero). Have you a band/personal motto? Don't trust anyone. What's your favourite lyric (either your's or somebody else's)? There's too many lyrics for me to put down. I have too many favourites. Who (or what) do you see as your greatest influence? Black Music and Thomas Wydler, drummer from the Bad Seeds. What's the big plan? T ake over the planet. What was the last book you read? Life On Mars. By .... It's about Miami. Describe yourself in five words. Happy / Sad / Angry / Hopeful / Bored What's your poison? Everything. What makes you laugh and what makes you cry? My kid. What was your greatest high? SPAIN with U2. NEW YORK with Bowie. What was your most embarrassing moment? Probably too pissed to be embarrassed. Where do you buy your clothes? All over. If you could make a fantasy band, who would be in it? PRINCE, TOM WYDLER, SLY STONE, NICK CAVE, SCOTT WALKER, TOM WAITS How would you like to be remembered? As a top bloke and a good dad. Finally, draw a picture of yourself. end poetress x modified to include Steve's self-portrait. A good likeness there, Steve

In the meantime, a Meldoy Maker interview (same source as above)
MELODY MAKER Q&A: NOV 1999 STEVE HEWITT - DRUMS
Do you get stalkers? "Brian's had a stalker, and I had a psycho woman who turned up on my doorstep claiming she'd been going out with me for a year. She was quite lovely, actually ... but obviously mad. Shame."
What's the line between a dedicated fan and ... "... Taking the piss and being a nuisance? It's when you get the sense that they want a piece of you. That way they waltz up to you and chat to you like they're your mate. 'Get out of my face, I don't even know you!' It just comes down to manners. You should know when to give someone some space."
What's the vibe on the new (Placebo - Black Market Music) songs? "I don't have a f***ing clue. Sleazy. It feels underage, in a teenage wife kinda vibe, in a 'I'll get you when you're young, you slag' way. The first album was party, the second album was coming down from the party, the third one is 'I'm going out again, but don't tell anybody'. It's more emotional, more playful, a lot of melodies coming up. It feels very Swedish. A lot of nice, brittle melodies. It's got a European feel. Teacher/pupil relationships, they're sweet. I had a few crushes at school - mostly on English teachers. Female English teachers, they're f***ing sexy."

And some random quotes from various interviews (same source again)
What's the most romantic thing you've ever done? Steve: "Probably sending flowers. Used to be quite into that."
Have you ever had a near-death experience with a fan? Steve: "I haven't. But I tried to hang myself when I was 16, from an apple tree, with a fucking garden hose. I was really pissed up. I was going down, and my mates sorted it out."
What or whom are you nothing without? Steve: "I'm nothing without a coffee machine, fresh coffee and a mobile phone."
What song makes you cry? Steve: "'Montague Terrace (In Blue)' by SCOTT WALKER."
If you were going to have a tattoo, what would you have and where? Steve: "I was going to have a PRINCE symbol done once, but I'm bloody glad I changed my mind. I'd love one of those old sailor busty maiden ones. Tits everywhere. Be fucking ace."
What are your earliest memories? Steve: "Being about four years old and running up the drive when my mum called me, and falling over, and sticking my teeth through my tongue and bottom lip and it all being stuck together."
What's worth fighting for? Steve: "Love."
and finally, in response to Brian Molko talking about Steve re-uniting the band when he joined Placebo:
STEVE: I am the Minister of Love.
