Let me ask, what type of crowds are coming along? Still majority of placebo follow throughs? I know it's a difficult thing to know, but just thought you might have talked to some people. Early days yet for word of mouth etc. (Cant wait to start trying to get So Sad some air play to reach some new ears!) Hi Kate. I was trying to work this out at the gig, myself. There were three support bands which would have brought a wide range of different fans. But in general I wouldn't have categorised the crowd as 'a Placebo crowd' although I'm wary of making such sweeping generalisations. A much higher proportion of men at the front of the crowd than is usual at Placebo gigs for one thing. The lower age limit was slightly higher too, but this may have been affected by the fact by the fact that the gig was over 18's only as far as I'm aware. Definitely at the next gig I will be doing some teaming for the forum, and make more effort to get talking to peeps.

Hey everyone ;D I'm new here *waves* The gig was incredible, I loved every second! I was lucky enough to be right at the front, pretty close to the lovely Steve. There was so much energy coming from the band and the audience with lots of singing along! The set was great, So Sad was a beast both times, definitly a highlight for me as well as Away from me and Oh God. That was just beautiful, one of the most beautiful performances I've ever seen. Blood & Earth and Home were perfect at opening/closing the set. I wanna go backk haha it was one of the best gigs I've ever been too, probably my favourite! It was intimate and the whole band owned the stage Plus I got a drum stick thrown at me by one of the other bands lol ;D

^^ Welcome symmetry. Good to hear you enjoyed the gig. I was standing right behind you I think, I remember seeing someone with a drumstick in their hands. Why not start a thread here www.heaven-and-hell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=3and introduce yourself. Hope to see you around again. Jen x

*waves at symmetry* welcome to the forum. Robyn, thank you for the vid *runs to watch* I have a small confession to make after Wednesday's gig: when the inevitable clash of the gig dates occurs (as I'm sure it will at some point in the future) that certain other band may not be winning quite so easily..... or at all. It takes a lot to out-stage-presence their singer, certainly in my eyes, but.... well.... *lets the evidence speak for itself* poetress x ps apologies for the slightly spammy nature of this post, but i just had to share modified cos I just noticed my apalling (mis)use of punctuation

i shant post a review....i never do....mainly cause i get too wrapped up in the music and atmosphere at said time, and trying to think of what to type is tre hard! but i did have an awesome conversation with Keith, on venues, the Barfly gig, and festivals, and the proximity of band to fans at gigs etc

Robyn, I know what you mean: I find myself paralysed and wanting for words, it's always such an emotional experience seeing LAR play. But I would have to add that Keith is fucking awesome - I hadn't spoken to him before that night - as is Magnus, whom I also spoke to for the first time. I just feel really happy that Steve has found his place - and what a place! - in a band full of really sound blokes who are (like Steve really) down to earth in person and yet rock stars on stage - it was really evident at the Scala gig how well they were gelling together - there were even some fine moments of bandcest with Steve/Hove, Steve/Donneye (who is also a total babe, btw) and Steve/Keith - all sadly uncaptured - but it bodes well for the future ;D All in all, it was the perfect rock gig. I only had two complaints: 1. The people next to us who insisted on talking through the slow/quiet songs - I reallly wanted to say 'ssshhhh - show some respect'; and 2. The security staff at the Scala who were the most cheerless jobsworths I've ever come across. Oh - and echoing others, how they took the whole ticket off you - especially galling as I had ticket # 1, grr. But these are small things - the important thing is, right from the opener to the unscheduled encore, LAR owned it and rocked it big time

i definitely think Steve came out of his shell and got into the swing of things as the gig progressed....the last few songs were definitely more relaxed and energetic

from reviewing Pixie's vids, it appears that the guys just get up there, shelve the egos and get on w/ it - i hope it endures - proper rock 'n roll band he's cultivating - i truly enjoyed watching the vids - the sound quality was amazing and maybe one day, if i'm lucky, i'll be able to experience a live LAR show!! (as i haven't seen a live band in donkey's years :/ )
thx for sharing!!

~woo hey. guess i'm new here - got myself an account even though i haven't done the message-board thing in years, but there seems to be more discussion going on here than lj atm, so i thought i'd pop in. i just posted a review of the scala gig up on the lj comm here: community.livejournal.com/loveamongstruin/20202.html(goddamn i can't even remember how to format things properly on sites that aren't lj anymore.) it's pretty detailed (i.e, i got really carried away with musings) with some vids & pictures. got some thoughts on fanbase, too - like rougevelvet was asking - so have at it if anyone's interested. & hello, also. =)
