Hi everyone, I'm (obviously) Stella, and I found my way here via pfww, where I am ladymolko - that being one of my given nicknames, along with Stelbagsand Mousey. Thank you thank you thank you for setting up this forum - a place to indulge my Beanie love to the full and support him in his new project.
OK, so following the instructions for announcing yourself:
I'm pushing 43 but still acting 23 (and sometimes 13 or even just 3); originally from London but now living in a village called Barlaston which is just outside Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. I like it, it's on the Trent & Mersey canal and it's also easy to get to civilisation from here.
My taste in music was defined through listening to my older sisters' stuff as a child: Bowie,T-Rex and the like, and also reggae and ska as one of my sisters used to work for Island records. It then expanded with the punk era and beyond. In my teens I was a big fan of the Jam, the Ruts and the Clash, and I still love listening to them. I also like such varied people as the Charlatans, Pulp, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Tricky, Prodigy, Faithless, Queen, Smiths/Morrisey, Muse, Kasabian, Killers, Friendly Fires and suchlike. I tend to like either stonking big sounds or songs which evoke a mood, and lyrics and voices are very important to me.
I work for a local authority in children's services - 'it pays my way but it corrodes my soul', so I try to find my groove outside of work - through things like friends, music, literature (reading and writing) and live comedy. In my time I've studied law, philosophy and psychology I love learning new things and thinking about the world and my place in it.
Talking of which, I'm currently planning a trip by train to Paris, Milan and Geneva with a girlfriend, where we're going to dress like eccentric English women from the 30s and drink lots of gin and tea. And I'm hoping for a trip to the States next year. I guess that's the most interesting thing I have going on at the moment (apart from waiting for Mr Hewitt to come back).
I'm just really happy to be here!
