Just got home from the gig and before I fall into bed (wearing my pretty new t-shirt ;D ) I just had to say it was amazing. Same setlist as before, plus a new song 'Oh God' (I think that's what Steve said it was called). They just had so much energy, and clearly very happy to be there. I'll leave it to the more coherent forum members to post a proper report *crawls off to bed* poetress x

lol, believe me, i couldn't sleep until I had shared, despite being dead on my feet! When the band finally wend their way to Oz you are gonna be blown away The sound was so much better last night than at the Barfly, and the band actually had space to move on the stage this time! It was just.... Barfly was good, but this one was turned up a notch. Laurie rocks on the cello and keith is just to watch. And Magnus *hugs him cos he's so sweet* I love that they don't stick to just guitars/keyboards/drums - there's so much going on up there. Highlights of the gig, hmmm.... the new song, Oh God, was just (he dedicated it to Stuart Cable) and Bring Me Down of course. And the last song, Home, just wow! Picture Steve at his most energetic drumming and translate that energy to vocals - it was just.... *is speechless* Hope someone managed to catch a little of it on camera And after the first set they went off, then came back on and Steve explained how they hadn't planned for an encore so they ended up doing So Sad again, which made a perfect ending. But seriously *shakes head* they didn't think we'd want an encore - has the man not realised yet that we're insatiable The only downer is that the bastards at Scala took our tickets and didn't give them back (which I suppose is not that much of a downer, considering) but I do hate it when venues do that poetress x

Ahh, sounds amazing...♥ I love when bands don't expect encores. I find it so presumptous and maybe kind of arrogant when its written into the set list. (I can understand for bigger bands, though) and it makes me so happy they came out and still played something again. A few bands I've seen unprepared just shrug it off with a thanks and an apology.
They didn't even offer to hand tickets back after the show? Sometimes they do that here, and I just go to the bar or the box office and ask if I can have one on the way out.

No, no tickets returned, not that we could see anyway

sounds like a great night.. thanks for the review!
Though no tickets returned seems a bit odd. The fact that most people keep them as mementos - surely they could've let you have them back?
And aaaaawh re. the encore. <3

Awww, I can practically taste the air and feel myself in the room their with you guys. le sigh I'm glad they seem to be going well.
Let me ask, what type of crowds are coming along? Still majority of placebo follow throughs? I know it's a difficult thing to know, but just thought you might have talked to some people. Early days yet for word of mouth etc. (Cant wait to start trying to get So Sad some air play to reach some new ears!)
And yes, I suspect I will be blown away. Start saving your pennies so you can join us!

Thanks fallenstar, these are seriously lovely photos. And a warm welcome to the dark side forum I'm still shattered after yesterday and so I will just pitch in briefly and say it was an epic gig. The sound was so much better than the Barfly, and you could see that Steve and the band had really relaxed into performing together. Steve's stage presence as a frontman is superb, and if anyone who knows him reads this *looks at Pete* will you please tell him that, from all of us? He *owned* that stage. The most moving moment of the night was when he played a new song called 'Oh God' (I think) - dedicated to Stuart Cable (ex-Stereophonics drummer and friend) who sadly died last week. He had warned us before the gig that he may well struggle to get through the song because he was feeling so emotional, and you could see he was so full of feeling as he sang the words. It brought tears to my eyes. Hearing 'So Sad' twice was a wonderful bonus - I tell you, I had a full areobic workout jumping up and down, punching the air and yelling the words! In short, they fucking rocked. More tomorrow when I have rested and collected my thoughts. Stella xxx

Just got back from London, last night's show was awsome! I enjoyed it much more than Barfly. Think it was the best show I've been to since Manics in Denver last year. Can't think of much else to say - I blame whoever it was in the hotel who woke me up a 5am!!
