Steve says today on FB:
"I'm just loading my drums into the car. Going to a studio to record nine tracks for Polaroid Kiss. Looking forward to playing drums again."

I looked up to Steve alot during the BMM and SWG eras, since during that period I was starting to become more proficient at the drums and I took inspiration from his style of playing. I also play left-handed, same as him! I reckon these are his best drum tracks:
Black-Eyed Without You I'm Nothing This Picture Allergic Leni
He tended to play better on songs that allowed him to showcase his jazz-like flourishes.

Welcome to the forum!
Also, I think I recall an interview where he said one of his faves to play was Black Eyed, so perhaps he agrees with you in respect to at least that one!

Ok I'm a bit late but I totally agree on Scared Of Girls, obviously. And Black Eyed. But I'd love to add Brick Shithouse, Passive Agressive, Meds and The Crawl here.

So hard to decide on a few here lol ;D. Of course have to agree on Black-Eyed the drum is just what makes the song so awesome for me! . Also Space . I do though especially enjoy his drumming on slower tracks such as Centrefolds, I'll Be Yours, In The Cold Light Of Morning or Narcoleptic. Some which for me personally (as someone having no real knowledge of drums anyhow ;D) are outstanding are English Summer Rain, Taste In Men, Drink You Pretty, Leni, Bubblegun, One Of A Kind and I really like Aardvark for drum purposes also!

Just thought I'd go back and comment on the drums on the album. I think Steve said he didn't put quite as much into the drums as he should have done, but that was probably because it wasn't his sole focus. His snare (probably a Brady) sounds killer on most songs. Best drumming is on Truth I think, his jazzy chops suit it. Pity he can't drum live!

I do still like the way he has a 'little go' when he plays live though! And you're right about 'Truth' - you can see how much he likes the drumming on that when he does his little 'bounce' live Edit: exalts you for drum knowledge xx

althouhg Steve's kit is usually the yamaha- he has stuck with his Sonor snare throughout- that is where the big noise comes from- strangely enough although he has a black sonor snare and white one they are exactly the same he white one actually has a better sound- this has been his favourite for many a year

Just wondering as I'm interested to pin down which snares he's used over the years.
