^ Now that I think of it, I don't know what's worse: to never hear it live again, or to hear it with Steve F's drumming and violin all over it :/

eww, the violin...its SO ANNOYING...i was really pissed when i heard the bitter end live (well, in tv:) )and i didnt hear anything just the screetching and squealing. it doesnt bother me that much on BFTS (although...strings and brass?really?why does everybody do it?) but to butcher a song like bitter end...vomitous. im sorry if i offended anybody but im one of those who are rather disappointed with the new album. but anyway, this is stevens forum so-i hope theres no brass section on his new album!

^ ahh how could i forget about that? Yeah, i see. I have no idea why i forgot that.,..i only saw Angkor Wat once. And i was thinking of the tour. ^^ misty, while i agree with you about being disappointed by the Battle For The Sun album, i'm going to have to ask everyone to keep the direct hate to a minimum - criticism of the music is fine, i don't appreciate a violin on that song either (it sounds like a football rattle or something), but can we keep the criticism for Placebo to their forums please?

^ much better It's perfectly fine to use examples of where other bands fall down in their music just don't let them all be a comparison to Placebo, because there are a lot of other bands who ruin their songs with new arrangements.

^muse for a start! (I may be in the minority who think this though). Talk about overdoing it...
Regarding Ankor Wat, wouldn't know, never watched it in full.
I for one hope Steve and the band utilise his raw drumming, to give the record a 'live rock' edge. that would work well.

Its not off topic, a fair comparison is a valid point. For any band. Back it up with why and its fine. :-D
Agree on the excitement though. Not long to wait either!

Agree on the excitement though. Not long to wait either! I'm afraid my capacity to tolerate deferred gratification is not well-developed ... I am greedy and impatient! I keep hoping for another update, any morsel from the box of sexual chocolate will be gratefully received And Muse - I really liked their earlier stuff ... nothing wrong with a bit of grandiosity (as a Pink Floyd fan I would say that) ... but I've heard a few people say that the new one is not great - too overblown.

So - now we've had the latest news from The One, I'm curious as to how Steve will combine his drumming with his singing when they play live. Obviously it's possible, a la Phil Collins (sorry), but I wonder if he'll do it like that, or will he sacrifice drums for vocals? Much as I'd love to see him upfront, I wouldn't want to lose the Happy Sticks altogether ... *is torn* ...

The drumming in Evil Dildo ALWAYS gets me. Seriously, my mind gets blown...
And I cant wait to hear him sing, I think he could pull off drumming+singing perfectly, I mean, c'mon, this is Badass Beanie Hewitt we're talking about!

^exactly!
before bfts officially came out, placebo did some gigs where they playes twenty years (you can find them on youtube) and steve f. was playing the drums in a totally different way. I think he was trying to make it a catchy song. I think my reply to the song was that they were raping it.

^ I might be wrong, but i think they played it just once with steve f.- @ angkor wat...and yeah, raping is the right word
