Much as I wish every word Steve said on stage were imprinted word for word on my memory, I've only been able to retrieve snippets He thanked everyone for coming and said he knew some people had travelled a really long way - at which we all pointed at Zee *lol* As Sam's said, he told us he was "having a blast" after asking if we were having a good time - to much cheering He welcomed us all to the Dark Side, which made us all laugh and cheer! He made some reference to "you know what I mean" He told us that Bring Me Down is a quasi-cover of a song called ___________ (someone please fill in the blank!) by a Norwegian band whose name escapes me, grr. He wrote his lyrics over their tune. He said it had been 18 years since he'd been at the Barfly! And earlier on Donneye had told me and Zee that the last time he'd played there, it was to an audience of 15 people! I also have to say that the crowd was really respectful and supportive. There was no pushing and shoving; everyone was just there to cheer Steve and the band on - we made a fine noise and I think we did them proud

after 2 years of hard work so good to actually see this project come to fruition. so many people travelled so far to just be part of the experience and that was much appreciated. just looking around at the crowd makes you realise just how much love and respect envelops steve and that always brings a smile. so lets hope this just grows and grows x x x

You're right - the love and respect around Steve was evident in the crowd on Tuesday night - the atmosphere was so supportive and friendly. I really do feel privileged to have been part of that. And so proud to see him back where he belongs - playing great music with a great band.

They sounded reakky good. Very loud. Couldn't really hear Steve singing all that well a lot of the time... there was a lot of "pointing up" for volume and asks for the bass to be turned down and the mic (and keys and cello) up. the bands had to walk through the right hand side of the crowd to get to the stage... right by me and Robyn <3 Tiny venue and no venue. Crowd was brill. Steve was so nice afterwards though... met him and told him how good it was to see him on stage again... he thanked everyone for their support as he was leaving I called him over to say hi to Jenny (she didn't want to bother him and she was stuck in london as she had missed her train bless her) and he came and said hi, gave Jenny a kiss on the forhead. Told us about when he'd met Morrissey with impersonation. SO funny CLASSIC moment I will never forget!! lol ! Morrissey Impersonation what is that ? was a good night . please tell us what means by impersonation ? Cool .

it was in the bar, before we were all getting thrown out, Steve came over to us, after being called, he started singing, which then turned into a Morrissey impression....needless to say Steve was merry.....but the impression was awesome

Just in case we're not all aware of the full names of the band, here is Steve's reply to a question posed on his FB page:
"On drums was Keith York, on guitar on my left was Steve Hove, on guitar on my right was Donald Ross Skinner, on bass was Magnus Lundén and last (but not least) on cello, keyboards and backing vocals was Laurie Ross."

Oh it's nice to know their whole names Which reminds me, pretty sure the picture threads will be popping up soon... I'm not entirely sure what the count is for people taking photos *not* of Steve

I don't know where else to post this really (and of course I should know better, lol) but if you'll indulge me I'd like to share some further reflections ... I've made a framed montage of the signed bunny pic from Steve and the ticket that Jenny so kindly sent me, and as I put it on my wall I looked over at the other wall which houses that commemorative poster of Bo's first gigs in May 2009 ... after I'd seen them in Sheffield last year I dreamt that night that I was in a park with the band, and Beanie showed up, and I said "Oh, it's so nice to see you!". Some months later I found this lovely forum, and now it's a year since that dream - and Steve is back in all his glory! I just felt really moved, thinking about how far he's come and what he's achieved so far. I was just too overcome by the Barfly gig (and still am) to write anything really coherent, but if I may just share how fucking proud I am of Steve And also how much further him and LAR can go - here's to a fantastic 2010 <3 <3 <3 (edited for grammar cos I iz anal - and yes, I'm aware how contradictory that statement is!)
