Hi I'm Bob, I'm from a town once voted the second worst town in England, (I'd like to say that that year Winsor took the prize winning position), but needless to say my town is worse, we don't have the queen's house, we have a horrible shopping centre called rather imaginatively "The Mall" *sigh*, also an international airport, with London in it's name, but we're not in London, contrary to what people like to tell me. If you don't know it yet, it's Luton, the town once famous for making elaborate hats, it was awhile ago...(before my time) I heard about this forum while waiting to see Placebo in Birmingham, and then again in London, and joined it after seeing Love Amongst Ruin at the Scala (after previously missing their UK début show at Barfly due to hospitalization, yay fun... I like many bands, some of which are: Placebo, Muse, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, The Kinks, The White Stripes, Beirut, Jonsi, Gogol Bordello, Sigur Ros, Dandy Warhols, Sonic Youth, The Cardigans, A Camp, the Metric, The Ropes, Moldy Peaches, Adam Green, Soulwax, The New Pornographers, and many many many more. I am an avid amateur photographer, scientist (not amateur, its my job), and aspiring writer (I say aspiring, I have written a play, a sitcom and am writing a film, although writing the latter is taking much longer than I'd like, turns out writing a film requires actually writing it, well at least the first 15 pages of it) so there is a lot of things about me... -Bob p.s. see my flickr account for my piccys www.flickr.com/photos/fallenstarphotography/sets/

Welcome Bob Cool that you started with the whole "worst town" thing .. I would have done too if mine had got near that status. And it's great that you're trying to write a film! Great pictures, by the way - would you mind if I borrowed one for a profile image here? *racks brains for newbie question* If you don't mind, what sort of scientist are you? Sorry if I'm not making much sense...3am sentence structure is not my strong point. Welcome to the nuthouse

Heya, sure you can use one of my photos for your profile image and I am a wheat geneticist, well at least for the time being I haven't fully specialised because I haven't done the whole PhD thing yet, so I can change. For awhile I was an entomologist which if you didn't know is the study of insects (I didn't actually know what one was when I first got the job ) Thanks alot for making me feel welcome NiLah

Nice to meet you too Bob, and I have given you a karma point for writing such a good introduction So I guess you're one of the people who are trying to work out a way to feed the planet in the future when global warming really takes its toll? Good work. My standard newbie question is: what would be your superpower of choice? Have fun on the forum - and do join us in the Random/Spam thread - it's so good to have another bloke on the premises, and you can keep Pete company when the oestrogen gets too much Love Stella xxx

Hey Stella, Thanks for the Karma point, I have reciprocated and given you karma in return, and I'm glad you liked my introduction. But yeah I'm one of those people who are trying to help keep the world fed. My superpower choice, hmm I suppose it'll have to be the ability to split myself in two copies of myself and keep both memories, so I can work and play at the same time . Haha I'll check out the random/spam thread in a bit, glad to be bringing some more testosterone to the table. and cheers Pete, glad you like my photos, and glad to be bringing more Y chromosomes to the board Bob

hello (again!) Bob and welcome to Heaven & Hell I've exalted you for being a geneticist - anyone that can study genetics (to PhD level - impressive) deserves exaltation I did one module of genetics at uni and ran away in terror for the safer haven of zoology/ecology. Much less biochemistry knowledge required there... Enjoy the forums poetress x

Welcome Bob, glad you've decided to join us and thanks a lot for those pics, they're fantastic! Really like your music taste... so if you'd have to choose: Sigur Ros or Jonsi? and one more question: favourite LAR song so far? Greetings from the Czech rep.

Hi Bob
I'm Jen, I'm based in Herefordshire and divide my working hours between running a domestic cleaning business and freelance web design - a strange combination, I know.
I echo everyone's sentiments by saying that it's no bad thing to add some more testosterone into the mix to dilute the excess of oestrogen somewhat. OK I know it doesn't work that way really but I'm definitely not a scientist.
I may be talking out of my hat here, but I'm thinking that, if you were up for it, when the new all singing all dancing website that's in the pipeline materialises, there would be a place for your photos in the gallery section (which I'm assuming will exist - everything is assumption at the moment!).
Anyway, newbie question - name a few of your favourite films.
Good to have you around.
Jen x

Hey Zee thanks for saying you like my photos, and also for appreciating my music taste Sigur Ros or Jonsi? hmm I suppose it'd have to be Sigur Ros, but Jonsi has some wonderful tracks on his Album Go. As for fav LAR song so far, Blood & Earth I think, or So Sad, Oh God was really touching too though, so difficult question. Helo Bob im Pixie or Robyn my usual "noobie" question for you....feel free to add one if ive missed one out..... vampires, ninjas, pirates, vampire pirates, ninja pirates, ninja vampies, fairies, ghouls, goblins, ghosts, zombies, witches, mummies, warewolves, wizard or the living undead? Hi Robyn/Pixie both good names. hmmm how about Zombie Ninja? not very stealthy, but it would be funny, or a Pirate Fairie Hi Bob I'm Jen, I'm based in Herefordshire and divide my working hours between running a domestic cleaning business and freelance web design - a strange combination, I know. Jen x Hey Jen, wow your jobs sound quite diverse, I know basic HTML but I don't think I'd know how to actually run and maintain a website or even how to get it up on the web lol. And again I'm glad to be welcomed in by so many lovely ladies thank you for being so nice to me. And yes, when this website materialises on the web, I'd be happy to contribute to it with my photos. I love photography and any chance for more people to see them is good for me as for favourite films, I like a lot of films, so here goes to name a few: Life Aquatic, Rushmore, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Everything Is Illuminated, Adam, Moon, Howls Moving Castle, Dr. Strange Love: or How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb, Gigantic, Wristcutters: A love story, A Serious Man, Pulp Fiction, O' Brother Where Art Thou, Fight Club, Stardust, Demolition Man, True Lies, Cruel Intentions (for introducing me to Placebo) and many many many more. -Bob x p.s. if anyone's interested here's some poems I posted www.heaven-and-hell.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=9&action=display&thread=89&page=3

Hey Bob, thanks for the exaltation - and I love what you said about splitting yourself in half - that would be the best superpower I've read your poems and I've asked a numpty question about one of them on the thread. Is it really annoying when people try to deconstruct your work? If so, forgive me xxx
